Adeoye Adefulu

Dr. Adeoye Adefulu is the Managing Partner of Odujinrin & Adefulu and Head of the firm’s Energy Practice. He advises clients on complex regulatory, commercial and financing matters across Nigeria’s electricity, oil and gas sectors.

His practice focuses on energy regulation, project development and financing, acquisitions and restructuring in the power and petroleum industries. He regularly advises international oil companies, independent petroleum producers, power sector participants, financial institutions, project sponsors and public sector institutions on major energy transactions, regulatory strategy and sector reforms.

Dr. Adeoye has been closely involved in the development and evolution of Nigeria’s petroleum sector regulatory framework. He participated in the reform process that culminated in the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, having followed the legislative journey of the Petroleum Industry Bill from its early drafts in 2009. He continues to advise clients on the implementation of the Act and its regulatory implications across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors.

In addition to his energy practice, he is frequently engaged to conduct independent investigations, governance reviews and regulatory inquiries for boards, institutions and professional bodies dealing with sensitive internal disputes, allegations of misconduct and complex governance issues.

Dr. Adeoye is consistently ranked as a leading lawyer in Nigeria by Chambers and Partners (Global), IFLR1000 and The Legal 500.

He is the immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association – Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), where he contributes to shaping legal and policy discussions affecting Nigeria’s commercial environment.

He is also the Managing Editor of www.petroleumindustrybill.com, a leading information portal on the Petroleum Industry Act, and is a regular speaker at local and international forums on Nigerian energy regulation and sector reform.
