Executive Order 9 of 2026: Implications for Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Sector

On 13 February 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu issued Executive Order 9 of 2026 (“Order”), titled “Presidential Executive Order to Safeguard Federation Oil and Gas Revenues and Provide Regulatory Clarity, 2026.” The Order, which took immediate effect, represents one of the most significant fiscal interventions in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector since the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act (“PIA” or “Act”), 2021.
