Crude Realities: The Path to Effective Domestic Crude Oil Supply in Nigeria
Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products has been a major economic challenge, costing billions annually. To tackle this issue, enhancing local refining capacity is crucial. The Domestic Crude Oil Supply Obligation (DCSO) aims to ensure a steady supply of crude oil to domestic refineries, supporting this goal. This article explores these challenges, considering legal frameworks and stakeholders’ perspectives, and suggests solutions to improve the DCSO’s effectiveness for the benefit of Nigeria’s oil industry and its citizens.
